Dr. Hafeez Ahmad, HoD, Applied Arts, Faculty of Fine Arts was asked to go on leave last week and Dean, Faculty of Fine Arts, Prof. Nuzhat Kazmi was asked to take over the charge as officiating HoD of the Department of Applied Arts.
Last week, three students of the Faculty of Fine Arts were suspended for two weeks after complaints were received against them by girl students of the department who were protesting in the Faculty of Fine Arts.
University officials talked to the students several times to end the protest. They were assured that all possible steps will be taken to solve their problems and grievances. But it seems the protesting students are being misled by other factions who are not stake holders and backed by certain vested elements who want to destabilise the peaceful academic environment of the university.
Teaching and Student community of Jamia are very much capable of solving the problems currently faced by the university. It is advisable for the vested elements and outsiders to not to interfere in the internal matter of the university.
JMI Administration once again appeals to all the bona fide students of the Faculty of Fine Arts to join classes and not to be enticed by the outsiders.
